What a classic that was Brian. I used to drool at the mouth when looking at one of these in the music shops in my early years. Always fancied one but never got round to actually buying one. Hugh.

That takes me back. Mine was a Jedson twin pickup solid body. A sort of blonde Telecaster-like guitar with a rudimentary tremolo arm. It cost my Dad all of £18, (which I suppose was quite a lot of money in 1972) at a small shop (long since gone) in Moulsham Street, Chelmsford.

QUOTE (Paul Creasey @ Jun 25 2009, 18:16 ) Hi Mr JC,
It's a Vickers Valetta - developed from the Viking (which, in turn, was developed from the WWII Wellington bomber) as a Bombing/Navigation Trainer. As a spotty Air Cadet in 1959, I flew in one of these things (based at the then RAF Lindholme) from RAF Waddington to RAF Ballykelly in Northern Ireland for Summer Camp. Happy Days!! Regards Paul Thanks for the i d Paul, i really must brush up on my aircraft recognition!!

NO IT'S NOT!! It's a Varsity. The Valletta was the military version of the Viking (but with a tricycle u/carriage if memory serves). The Varsity was a trainer version of the Valletta. Sorry I didn't get it right first time! Regards Paul

Sorry, hbm, I don't get into this part of the site very often! It's "only" FS9 (Flight Sim 2004), but with enhanced scenery provided by UKMIL - hence the more detailed depiction of Waddo - with Sentries parked outside "the big shed". I've since added (also courtesey of UKMIL) "Waddo 1970's", with an airfield full of Vulcans (lovely!!) including four on the QRA (Quick Reaction Alert) pans at the end of the runway, and every few hours they "scramble" (even MORE lovely!!) Best regards Paul

I was working at Santa Pos on the timing crew around that time and got to see some of drag racing's greats from both sides of the pond:
UK: Alan "Bootsie" Herridge, Dennis Priddle, Stones Racing and many others
USA: Ray Beadle, Gene Snow, Marion Owens (male double hog rider) and the fastest man on 4 wheels "Slammin'" Sammy Millar amongst so many.
If I remember the picture is of an older Houndog driven by Owen Hayward?
